Since I didn’t do overall predictions, I’ll do it by rounds and do in depth scouting reports for the conference series. So without a further introduction, let’s predict the Divisional Series!
American League:
(1) Rays vs (5) Yankees: Rays
This one is going to be a close one. Both teams are very good, and players from both teams are on fire. Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge are back, and Brandon Lowe and Blake Snell are on fire.
I’m going to give the nod to the Rays, solely because of their superb bullpen. However, it could very well flip and I think that this series is going to be decided in 5.
(2) Athletics vs (6) Astros: Athletics
The Twins are terrible in the postseason, so that win doesn’t make the Astros good. The Athletics, however, are genuinely amazing. I expect this to be decided in 3 or 4 games.
National League:
(1) Dodgers vs (4) Padres: Padres
I’m very high on the Dodgers, but I think that this series will go to the Padres. This will be an upset if they do win, but I’ll take an upset here. Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr, Wil Myers, and Eric Hosmer are all doing superb this year. In the rotation, Zach Davies and Dinelson Lamet have been Cy Young level.
For the Dodgers, no player has been better than Mookie Betts. Will Smith has also been hitting very well from the catcher spot. Clayton Kershaw, Dustin May, Julio Urias, Tony Gonsolin, and Walker Buehler form the league’s best rotation.
This will be an amazing series. I expect it to go to 5, either way. Expect Tatis Jr and Betts to break out.
(2) Braves vs (6) Marlins: Braves
I still can’t believe that the Marlins are in the playoffs, but here they are. They will run into the NL East powerhouse Braves. It will not be close, going in favor of the Braves.
